What are we raising money for?

This year all funds raised during Golfing for Mia will be going to Wood Lake Camp and Retreat Center's Youth Scholarship Fund. Wood Lake is the newest property of Forest Springs Ministries and hosted their beta camps this summer! 

Here is a little history of Wood Lake: 

Wood Lake Baptist Camp was begun in 1933 by Phillip Carlson as a denominational retreat center and “Bible School and Young People’s Commission”. In 1937, they acquired the 235 acres they have today and held their first camp on site in August of 1938.

For 80 years Wood Lake experienced rich ministry to youth and families, but as operating camps became more difficult, the board closed its doors in February 2018 (their last event was a men’s retreat in January 2018).

In 2019, Wood Lake was purchased by a couple in the city who had a heart to restore it to Christian camping. They restored much of the property before ultimately passing ownership over to Forest Springs Ministries in July of 2021.

Wood Lake will primarily be for youth and kids to be able to come and experience God's creation away the busyness of everyday life and deepen their relationship with Him. We are thrilled to be partnering with them this year to help build their scholarship fund and get kids to camp in the coming years.
