Why Golfing for Mia?

Daniel and Hannah Petkau’s daughter, Amelia Grace, was stillborn on February 25, 2022. They both have a deep desire to share her story and hopefully make a difference in others’ lives. Daniel absolutely loves golf and Hannah has learned to love it since marrying him. That’s where their idea for Golfing for Mia originated.

As Amelia’s mom and dad, they have an eagerness to raise money in her memory for the Youth Scholarship Fund at Wood Lake Camp & Retreat Center in Grantsburg, WI. Wood Lake is new ministry under the umbrella of Forest Springs Camp & Conference Center. The funds raised would help ease the financial burden of families who want to send their kids to a week long summer camp. This means so much to Daniel and Hannah because they have seen lives changed first-hand through the ministry of Forest Springs; their lives were changed when they met there in 2017. Daniel grew up at Camp and Hannah came to Family Camp for 10 years prior to working there. 

They had dreams of sending Amelia to camp as a youth camper. Since their Amelia won’t be able to experience Camp, they want to honor her through the scholarship fund and send as many kids to camp as possible. Through this golf scramble they can combine three things they love: Amelia, Forest Springs Ministries, and golf.
